A domain of one’s own

I’ve found A Domain of One’s own very interesting, first of all because it’s fascinating thinking about the fact that the personal cloud, that most of us use on a daily base is such a recent invention that really helped all of us to create a safe place to store all of our works. I’ve also found myself in totally agreement with the importance of this technology in the students’ lives: learning how to use this space it’s important not only in their academic career, but also in their future jobs and lives.

If the first article was talking about the importance of our cloud and it’s pros, the second one, Why A Domain of One’s own, highlights the importance of pay attention on what we post online. The student’s cloud is designed for the purpose of sharing informations that can be part of studies’ web to collaborate and create a safe space in which students can express freedom of opinions and research, without being scared of loosing control of their data. This is something that is missing in the social media, everything that it’s posted becomes public and we’re not in control of that particular idea, comment or photo anymore.

In conclusion: the creation of a safe space it’s absolutely important, because learning it’s not something that happens only in the classroom, but everywhere thanks to the web.
